Damen Shipyards: from strong individuals to one leadership team
Damen Cargo Vessels had four experienced, committed directors, but departments worked in silos and coordination at the top fell short. Through interviews with eleven directors and managers and a two-day session with the director team, we worked on mutual understanding, stalled decisions and how to run the organisation end to end. The result: a management charter, more open conversations and a director team that now leads the business together.
“At Damen Cargo Vessels, part of Damen Shipyards, we’re a team of four directors. Everyone works hard and is fully committed. As a team of experienced directors, we did accomplish a lot in recent 5 years, but our departments were too much in their own silos, and between us directors there was a certain lack of coordination and/or trust.
